Largely overshadowed by the amazing hitting of Ted Williams, Bobby Doerr was an important part of Red Sox history as Williams. Known as the greatest Boston second basemen, Doerr had great defense skills but he could also hit. Doerr was amazing when he played at Fenway hitting .315 with 145 home runs. Although never winning a championship, Bobby went 9 for 21 in the 46 World Series against the Cardinals. Bobby retired when he was barley 33 years old due to a back injury. He would have easily have gotten 3000 hit if he would've been healthy.
