1952 Topps Online Card Gallery
This is great it shows the complete 1952 Topps set, shows all the cards

And the hyphy begins for an unproven high school kid. I'd rather invest in GM stock than invest in this kid. Many collectors are crazy with investing in baseball cards.

Great article on nicknames of MLB players. There aren't many nicknames that are used today like there used to be

I love custom cards and the blog is nice.

I feel that my Padres will be a good team in a few years.

Retired Numbers: #19 Johnny Pesky

Red Sox

Retired Numbers: 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 14, 27, 42

#19 Johnny Pesky: Boston Red Sox (1942, 1946–1952) Detroit Tigers (1952–1954)
Washington Senators(1954)

Positions: SS/3B

Why is he great: With World War II being fought in the early 40's, many great players had to go overseas to defend the country. The war left many players without playing for many years like Pesky. Johnny Pesky rookie season in 1942 was amazing for a second baseman hitting .331. After the 42 season Pesky was sent off to the Navy and served for 3 years. When Pesky returned in 1946 he was better than ever hitting .335 a career high. We still wonder what would Pesky have done if he would've played those 3 seasons we will never know. Johnny Pesky would go on to play 8 more season and be a Red Sox legend. Pesky was often associated with his teammates Ted Williams, Bobby Doerr and Dom DiMaggio who were all close friends. In an age where many players are self-centered and selfish Its hard to imagine 4 players being close.

Best Season: 1946 .335 BA/ .401 OBP/ .427 SLG/ 208 H/ 43 2B/ 2 HR/ 55 RBI

Player: Mickey Mantle & Ken Griffey Jr.

Brand: Upper Deck

Year:1994

Print Run: 1,000

Features: Mickey Mantle & Ken Griffey Jr. Autographs

Price: Low/$150 High/$800

There aren't many items that include signatures of Mantle and Griffey let alone a baseball card. Two players that dominated the 50's & 90's, & changed the card collecting hobby upside down. The 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle and the 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffy Jr. Rookie Card are one of the most recognizable Baseball cards in history.

Vicks signs wih the Eagles

Vick Sign with the Eagles

PHILADELPHIA – Michael Vick is back in the NFL, landing a job with the Philadelphia Eagles.

"He signed with the Eagles," agent Joel Segal told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Thursday. He said it was a two-year deal.

Holy Snap Micheal Vick has just got signed by the Eagles. Many people thought vick wouldn't be signed others did. With Vick signing before the preseason we could see Vick in less than a week. Its going to pretty interesting when Vick plays his first game. There are many questions how will the fans react will he be booed will he get cheers. What will Peta and the protester react how hectic will his first game be. A very interesting note the Eagles will play at Atlanta Week 13. I wonder how the Atlanta fans will react if Vick plays. Many of his cards are still sought by many collectors. Many of his cards still even reach 70 bucks. When his new cards get released we know for a fact that collectors will still want his cards.

66 Runs in 12 Days

Player: Will Venable
Will is the son of Former Major Leaguer Max Venable. With the Padres trading away there outfielder Scott Hairston, Venable & Kyle Blanks were called on to split time in the outfield. Venable has been hitting good for the Padres hiting 6 HR, 13 RBI, with a .383 BA in the last 12 games. With his hitting and the Padres stepping it up they have scored a total of 66 runs in the last 12 games, 9 of those played in Pitcher Friendly Petco Park.

Set: 2009 Topps Chrome

I'm really craving this product right now but I haven't bought any packs in a while. I'm really liking how the chrome looks on these years Topps which i really like . The designs have simplicity which is very good & I love simplicity, good work by Topps this year. The checklist for autos is pretty good and it features 2 Padres which is rare for any auto checklist. The autos are all on-card which is great. I'm liking the prices of the Hobby Boxes, $65, and there are 2 hits per box.

Features: Rookie Card, Autograph(On-Card), #'d/50, Refractor, Gold Border

Price: Many prices some up to 100

Pedro & The Playoffs

photo

Pedro Martinez pitched his first game for the Phillies yesterday.Martinez got the win against the cubs beating them 12 to 4. He pitched a great game and looked good. His fastball was nice his changeup was amazing.

He gave up 3 runs and struck out 5 batters. In the game yesterday Pedro past Bob Gibson in total career strikeouts. Playing for the Phillies Pedro won't have to worry about run support because they score many runs. Pedro Martinez is going to be an important role in the Phillies pursuite for another consecutive World Series win.

There isn't much competition In the NL east except the marlins who are just 3 1/2 games behind but the Phillies got more depth in there roster which will help them at the end of the season and Postseason. It's getting interesting with the season ending in less than 2 months and teams pushing for a spot in the playoffs.

The most exciting playoff races are going to be both wild card races . I wanted to say the al east but if the Yankees continue to play the way there playing they will win the division by a wide margin. It's going to be an interesting 09 season which has been great.

Here are my Playoff Predictions.

NL

West-Dodgers
Same like the Yankees(*see below)

Central-Cardinals

East-Phillies
Good all around will be the team to beat.

Wild Card- Giants
I really love the pitching which i think is the best in the NL and maybe in the MLB. There hitting is starting to hit good.

AL

West-Angles
Texas won't catch the Angles they don't have a good pitching.

Central-White Sox
With Jake Peavy there Starting Rotation is going to be good and a threat in the playoffs

East-Yankees
There hitting like crazy but i still don't have a Ace to pull them through the playoffs.

Wild Card-Rays
It will either be the Rays or Red Sox it will go done to last 3 or 2 games of the season.
