Card of the Day: John Smoltz

Smoltz was looking like his career was over but his performance on Sunday has jump started back his Career. At one point of the game Smoltz struck out 7 batters in a row which was impressive. I hope Smoltz still has a bit still left in him. It will be interesting to see him back in the postseason because the Cubs don't have a chance to win the Division. Smoltz is quite impressive in the playoffs with a 15-4 record and a 2.65 ERA in 207 innings. It would be nice to see his career end on a positive note lie winning a World Series which the Cardinals are capable of doing. No matter what happens to Smoltz in St. Louis he is a future Hall Famer.
Player: John Smoltz

Team: Braves

Card: 2007 UD Premier Penmanship

There aren't many items that include signatures of Mantle and Griffey let alone a baseball card. Two players that dominated the 50's & 90's, & changed the card collecting hobby upside down. The 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle and the 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffy Jr. Rookie Card are one of the most recognizable Baseball cards in history.

Will is the son of Former Major Leaguer Max Venable. With the Padres trading away there outfielder Scott Hairston, Venable & Kyle Blanks were called on to split time in the outfield. Set: 2009 Topps Chrome

I'm really craving this product right now but I haven't bought any packs in a while. I'm really liking how the chrome looks on these years Topps which i really like . The designs have simplicity which is very good & I love simplicity, good work by Topps this year. The checklist for autos is pretty good and it features 2 Padres which is rare for any auto checklist. The autos are all on-card which is great. I'm liking the prices of the Hobby Boxes, $65, and there are 2 hits per box.

Card of the day:Pedro Martinez

The Phillies announced today that the recently acquired Pedro Martinez will be in the starting rotation. He will get his first start of the year on Wednesday which will be on ESPN for the world to see. Although his best years are behind him we still think that maybe he still has a little bit left in the tank. Its going to be a different role for Pedro instead of being the ace he will try to help the struggling back end of the rotation. We might see the return of Pedro in the playoffs were he could win another World Series and be a lock in the H.O.F.
*Could Imagine Pedro pitching in a Yankees-Phillies W.S. that would be crazy

Player: Pedro Martinez

Card of the day: Andrew McCutchen

Player: Andrew McCuchen

Card Brand: 2007 Bowman Signs of the Future

Features: Autograph

Price: Many bids around $15

Card Design. The text isn't the focal point, its very loud but still subtle. The simplicity is great, the card is very easy on easy. The autograph is a sticker but like many bowman products its incorporated into the design which looks great. I think Bowman's high-end products are great but a little bit too expensive, if you buy a hobby box, but buying singles on ebay is the best option.

About the player: McCutchen is starting to become one of my favorite players. With his great speed, spectacular defensive skills, and solid hitting, Andrew is starting to look like the face of franchise for many years to come. Although the pirates trade many of there stars McCutchen looks like hes going to stay a Pirate. He has been amazing with RISP hitting .395 BA, .489 OBP, getting 7 walks, and driving in 25 runs quite impressive for a 22 year old rookie.

Card of the day: Aaron Poreda

Year: 2007

Set: 2007 Bowman Sterling

Player : Aaron Poreda
Poreda was one of the four prospects the White Sox traded to get pitcher Jake Peavy. Ranked as the White Sox top pitching prospect Aaron was the reason the Padres traded there ace. Poreda had great numbers in the minor leagues posting a 2.66 ERA in 281 innings. Currently Poreda was called up to the White Sox bullpen.

Features: Autograph

Price: $20

Card of the day:Everth Cabrera

Card: 2009 Icons Everth Cabrera Autograph.

Player: Everth Cabrera

Features: Rookie Card Autograph

This player isn't known outside San Diego. He was chosen in the Rule V Draft last year. Instead of just hiding him away like with many Rule V draftees the Padres decided to make him the starting shortstop.

Only 22 years old Everth has shown some growing pains but he's made some great plays with the glove and at the plate. Cabrera, like many hitters is great away from Petco hitting .281 and terrible at home hitting .194.

The main reason why the Padres got him was because of his speed. In the 40 games he's played he's robbed 10 bases.

Card of the day: Justin Upton

Card: 2007 Upper Deck Exquisite Justin Upton

Features: Rookie Card, Autograph,4x 3 color GU Jersey, & 1 of 1

Design: I always like Upper Deck Jersey Cards, I like how they put the jersey inside numbers. The picture is nicely placed to the left with a very simple design to the right. With so much stuff on the card a simple design looks great. The Autograph is on a sticker, but the sticker is Incorporated with the design which looks nice.

Price:4,995(Buy it now)

Player: Justin Upton is not a known player outside the NL West. Justin was barley 19 when he was called up in 2007. Justin, now 21 is on the verge of having a breakout season in a year or two. Now in his third season Upton is showing a huge improvement with his .290 BA, 16 HR in 89 games which earned him a trip to his first All- Star Game. Expect Upon to hit 40+ HR in the prime of his career.

Card of the day:Mat Latos

Being a padre fan its hard to find a reason to watch them. Peavy out on dl Adrian has been on a cold streak and the future looks dim, but there must a light somewhere. Well Sunday there will be something to look forward to the Debut of Top Padre Pitching Prospect Mat Latos. Hopefully Latos has a good debut not a disaster which would make this season much of a failure.

Card: 2007 Donruss Elite Extra Edition

Player: Mat Latos

Mat Latos has been amazing in minor leagues were he hasn't struggled at any level. He is a bit of a power pitcher with his 97 mph and good slider. In his 184 innings in the minors he had 216 strikeouts. Latos has very good numbers a 0.71 Whip this year and has only allowed 1 homer in 70 innings. But the most eye popping stat is his low ERA 1.91 in 47 innings this year.

Features: Autograph & Serial #'d/25

Price: price set at $250

Card of the day:Adrian Gonzalez

Card: 2007 UD Black Adrian Gonzalez

Features: Dual patch, Dual Jersey, Autograph, and Serial #'d to 75

Player info: No one has been such an offensive threat like Adrian Gonzalez for the padres this season. The padres have always been weak with power. Since 2002 Adrian has been the only Padre to hit more than 30 home runs in a season. Not only is he good with the bat but defensively as well, winning the gold glove last year. Adrian is one of the most hard working player in the MLB by starting in 299 games without a day off. Adrian Gonzalez is not like a typical show off, greedy, thinks the world revolves around them MLB player he's one of the good guys. Very reminiscence of padre legend tony Gwynn by his hard work and dedication to the city of San Diego Adrian might one day also be a San Diego Padre legend.

Why this card: Adrian Gonzalez is one of my favorite player to watch. He's going to be in the Home run Durby tonight.

Card Design: The card uses its patches & jerseys slots very nicely into the numbers. The patches multi colored and very appealing.

Price: The lowest seen one go was 20 for one were the patch had 2 colors and highest has been 100.

Ebay Card of the day: David price

2007 Bowman Draft Chrome SuperFractor David Price

This card looks amazing like the other superfractors. It has what every collector loves, on card auto, 1/1, and a refractor. Not just any refractor a "Super"fractor so shiny everyone knows its worth alot. Just give a card collector a piece of blank card stock with shiny foil and they'll love it. Who doesn't love shiny cards, the shinyer the better. This card is on ebay for $1,000 with 2 hrs left. When David Price wins a Cy Young this card will sky rocket in price.
