In an impersive 23 year carrer Yaz wasn't just a Home Run Hitter but a hitting machine. As incredible as 3,419 hits sound 453 Home runs to add to that sounds ridiculous. Yastrzemski is 1 of 3 players to have more than 3,400 hits and 450 Home Runs in a career.

Carl is in the top 10 of almost every batting statistic except Triples and stolen bases. If Yaz had alot more speed people would of thought he was a robot.

Why is he great: With World War II being fought in the early 40's, many great players had to go overseas to defend the country. The war left many players without playing for many years like Pesky. Johnny Pesky rookie season in 1942 was amazing for a second baseman hitting .331. After the 42 season Pesky was sent off to the Navy and served for 3 years. When Pesky returned in 1946 he was better than ever hitting .335 a career high. We still wonder what would Pesky have done if he would've played those 3 seasons we will never know. Johnny Pesky would go on to play 8 more season and be a Red Sox legend. Pesky was often associated with his teammates Ted Williams, Bobby Doerr and Dom DiMaggio who were all close friends. In an age where many players are self-centered and selfish Its hard to imagine 4 players being close.

Although the brewers didn't win the World Series there legacy isn't forgotten. The team had 3 Hall of Famers on the 1982 team. Robin Yount will forever be remembered as a Milwaukee legend.

Why is he great: Ozzie Smith cant be judged just by his stats but by his defensiveness and athleticism

Ozzie was above average for his hitting but defense is were he excelled. Not only did he score runs

he also stopped runs making him very valuable as a player. Its really hard to describe him with out

watching him play, but i know that if you'd watched him every day of the season you would know

how great he truly is.

#4 Joe Cronin(Shortstop): Pittsburgh Pirates(1926-1927), Washington Senators(1928-1934), Boston Red Sox(1935-1945)

Joe Cronin wasn't just your average baseball player. He didn't just think about hitting and defense but also managing. Joe was signed by the Pirates, but only played 50 games before being sold to the Washington Senators for $7,500. Cronin was assigned to the manger position while still playing Shortstop. The Senators went on to play in the 1933 World Series but ended up losing to the Giants. In 1934 the Washington Senators decided to trade Joe Cronin to the Boston Red Sox. Joe would only played 6 full seasons in which 4 of those he batted above .300. He was also successful as a manager achieving over a 1,000 wins with the Red Sox. Cronin retired as a player in 1945, and as a manager in 1947. He also served as the Red Sox GM for 12 years until being elected as the AL president.
